Project Insights

Coffy didn’t want to limit the fast, accessible and fixed-price coffee experience to just physical stores. As user expectations grow in an increasingly digital world, Coffy’s mobile app was reimagined to keep up with this transformation.

The existing mobile app had become insufficient in meeting user needs. Visual clutter of the interface, inconsistencies in user flows and inadequate feedback mechanisms negatively affected the overall user experience. Core functionalities; the payment process, accessing product details and the reservation system posed challenges that leads to lower conversion rates.

We at VOYA relaunched the design process by reshaping it through UX strategy based on these problems with comprehensive user interviews, prototype testing and competitor analysis. Throughout the project, we conducted in-depth interviews with users from different segments to analyze their problems, expectations and behavior patterns related to the current app.

In light of the insights gathered, user flows were rebuilt from the ground up. The new app was structured to ensure that users could access their most common tasks (placing orders, browsing products, making payments and booking reservations) with minimal steps. The prototypes developed during the design process were continuously tested with real users and improved accordingly. This iterative process resulted in a user-friendly experience aligned with both brand values and user expectations.

Project Framework

In this project we collabrated with Coffy, we revisited the user interface and user experience design processes of the mobile app.

As part of this, we thoroughly analyzed user needs and created a modern, functional and user-friendly interface design. Our user experience strategy focused on ease of ordering, completing tasks with minimal taps and simple navigation principles. In particular, user experience issues that identified in the previous version of the app were analyzed and completely resolved in the new version.

With the redesigned Coffy mobile app, users can:

  • Easily browse the up-to-date menu,
  • Collect beans with every order and redeem them for free coffee,
  • Order coffee to a specified address or choose to pick it up from a nearby branch,
  • Place orders during peak hours without waiting in line by the in-app appointment system,
  • Complete transactions smoothly with fast and secure payment options.

Throughout the design process, we continuously improved the app using insights from user interviews and prototype testing. As a result; Coffy’s “fixed price, simple experience” approach was fully reflected in the digital world, leading to a fast, aesthetic and user-focused mobile app.

This project became one of the key milestones in the brand’s digital transformation journey, standing out as a strong digital platform supported by data-driven UX design and high-functioning UI components.

Research

In the initial research phase, VOYA conducts an in-depth analysis of user needs, behaviors, and challenges by employing strategies such as interviews and data analytics. 
This foundational work is pivotal in shaping the design strategy.

UX Design

Throughout the design stage, 
VOYA develops wireframes and prototypes
to visually map out potential solutions.
These serve as blueprints for the user interface's structure, layout, and functionality.

UI Design

In the exploration phase, VOYA meticulously investigates user requirements, actions, and challenges by utilizing techniques such as interviews and data analytics. 
This thorough examination is crucial for guiding the design strategy efficiently.

Testing & Hypotesess

In the evaluation phase, VOYA seeks feedback on these prototypes from users, scrutinizes usability, and refines the designs accordingly. This cyclical refinement process is crucial to ensure the end product aligns with user expectations and requirements.

Furthering

After the app was launched, user feedback was analyzed to identify missing or improvable areas. Based on these insights, improvements were made to the interface and functionality, and new features were added. The entire process focused on continuously enhancing the user experience.

Technical Assistance

We facilitated the software team's accurate implementation of designs into code, ensuring a seamless translation of visual concepts into functional applications. Our guidance helped maintain design integrity throughout the development process, aligning technical execution with creative vision.

More Simple, More Meaningful, More Coffy

With the redesign the new Coffy app leaves behind the complex interface structure of the previous version. Cluttered visual hierarchy, distracting icons and unclear information flow from the old design have been replaced with a simple, modern and user-centered structure.

  • Visual simplicity and content clarity have been prioritized. Users can now easily access the information they need at first glance,
  • Campaigns, favorites and product categories are more accessible with distinct tabs,
  • Typography, whitespace usage and product hierarchy have been optimized to enhance readability,
  • The navigation menu has been simplified, providing clear guidance to the user.

This is not just an aesthetic update; it is a transformation of the user experience, supported by data-driven UX decisions that make the time users spend in the app more meaningful and efficient.

Order and Appointment Process

Coffy users can either place an immediate coffee order or skip busy hours and schedule an appointment for a later time. The appointment system provides a time-saving experience, especially in high-traffic stores.

User-friendly Experience with Map-Support

In the old design, branch information was presented in lists, making location and distance details difficult to understand and access. The lack of visual hierarchy and the cluttered text structure failed to guide users effectively in making their choices.

  • With the map integration, users can visually explore nearby Coffy locations.
  • Location-based search and filtering have clarified the "Delivery / Pick-up" distinction.
  • Branch information has been transformed into simple, readable, and selectable card structures.
  • The decision-making process has been accelerated with easily digestible information.
